Grand Chamber of the European Court leaves violation of article 18 in regard to Vano Merabishvili"s case in force

The European Court of Human Rights has declared a decision on the case of Vano Merabishvili. Violation of the Article 18 of the European Convention was left unchanged according to the decision of the Judiciary Panel.
The Strasbourg Court rarely establishes a violation of Article 18. The same was applied to the cases of Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuri Lucensco.
The conclusion of the Grand Chamber is published on the official website of the Court.
GEORGIAN RELIGIOUS LEADERS VISIT WASHINGTON DC

A delegation of sixteen Georgian religious leaders has just returned from a five-day visit to Washington, DC. The visit was organized by the Center for Development and Democracy (CDD) in cooperation with the Information Center on NATO and EU, and funded by the British Embassy in Tbilisi.
The delegation included leaders of the Georgian Orthodox Church together with leaders of Armenian, Catholic, and Muslim communities of Georgia.
The delegation attended an international conference focusing on the role of religion in democracy and anti-Western propaganda. The religious leaders also had the chance to meet with numerous US government officials
Nino Lomjaria elected as Public Defender if Georgia

The voting was held several minutes ago in the legislative body.
According to the decision of the Parliament, Nino Lomjaria will head the Public Defender"s Office for five years.
CONSTITUTIONAL COURT RULES THAT USE OF MARIJUANA SHOULD BE DECRIMINALIZED

The Constitutional Court of Georgia today supported a notion to decriminalize the consumption of marijuana, ruling that it is unconstitutional to criminally persecute a person for using marijuana.
The Constitutional Court has satisfied the claim of "Girchi". The citizen - Givi Sharashidze has been requesting to completely repeal the criminal liability for the Repeated consumption of marijuana.
According to the decision of the Constitutional Court, marijuana consumption in Georgia is decriminalized. In its decision, the Constitutional Court writes that every person has the right to choose their means of relaxation.

FBI experts have arrived in Georgia to assist Georgian law enforcers

"FBI experts have arrived in Georgia to assist Georgian law enforcers," - said the US Ambassador to Georgia- Jan Kelly today.

GEORGIAN STATE SECURITY SERVICE CONFIRMS AKHMED CHATAYEV KILLED DURING SPECIAL OP IN TBILISI

Ahmed Chataev is among those, who have been killed during the special operation on Gabriel Salosi Street, in Tbilisi. The announcement is made by the Head of the Administration of the State Security Service.
According to the State Security Service, two individuals have been killed during the special operation. One - Ahmed Chataev has blown himself up.
Reportedly information about the fact that during the special operation two people could escape is not the truth.
Nino Giorgobiani says that Adam Gumashvili is not among the deceased.
According to Giorgobiani, at the initial stage of the special operation, law enforcers have offered the members of the criminal group to surrender, However, they have refused.
She confirms that the FBI experts which are in Georgia assist Georgian law enforcers in investigative activities.
The State Security Service works to prevent possible threats.
The agency does not specify the reason why the criminal group members are in the country. The State Security Service does not speak about terrorists" allies in Georgia.
TWO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS KILLED IN KNIFE FIGHT IN TBILISI

Two 16-year-old high school students have died following a knife fight on Khorava Street in Tbilisi’s Vera district .
One of the students died of multiple severe stab wounds before reaching the hospital on Friday, December 1.
The second student underwent surgery and remained in grave condition, but died today of his wounds. The doctors were unable to save his life.
According to preliminary information, the fight started in School #51.
One person born in 2001 was arrested by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the grounds of intended murder.
The person who wounded the second student has not been found yet.
An investigation is ongoing under Article 109 of the Criminal Code that constitutes intended murder.
The Tbilisi City Court has sentenced the detainee and the escaped suspect to the preliminary custody The Judge has satisfied the motion of the Prosecutor"s Office and sentenced both persons accused of premeditated murder in the aggravating circumstances to pretrial detention.
Three other individuals were detained in connection with the murder today. According to the MIA, a father of two pupils is among the detainees in regard to the murder.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not rule out that the number of detainees may increase.
Swiss President is paying an official visit to Georgia

The Swiss President has arrived in Georgia on an official visit. The official welcome ceremony was held at Tbilisi International Airport. President Doris Loytharard was met by Foreign Minister of Georgia.
The Swiss President will meet Giorgi Margvelashvili today. The meeting will be held in a face to face and extended formats.
Presidents will hold a joint briefing. Loythhard will also meet with the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Parliament. The Swiss President will honor the memorial of the heroes who fought for Georgia`s territorial integrity today.
