We see that Georgia has a two-party strong support in the Congress, - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Janelidze told journalists when commenting on the letter of US congressmen.

As he noted, support of American congressmen is the result of the success of the Georgian reforms.

"The letter of Congressmen is a confirmation of the US support for Georgia. We see that Georgia has a two-party strong support in the Congress and it is unprecedented when so many Congressmen are expressing strong support to Georgia and urge to deepen relations between the US and Georgia. This is the result of the success of the reforms, carried out by the Georgian government, as well as democratic development and firm partnership that we have had with the US in the last years. Support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty will continue. The US position against Russia's aggression is firm," said Mikheil Janelidze.

According to him, Georgia continues strong strategic cooperation with the US.

"We continue strong strategic cooperation with the US, focused on Georgia's development, search of new economic capabilities, support for our territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as our European and Euro-Atlantic future. The issue of Georgia is actively discussed in the political circles of the United States," Janelidze said.

He also commented on the trade dialogue with the US and said that the work on the issue will continue.

"This issue is in our interest. We are looking forward to formation of a policy by the new administration and we will continue to work on this issue," said Janelidze.

30 US Congressmen have addressed President Donald Trump with a letter to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the US and a strong strategic partnership between the two countries.
