NATO will monitor situation and development of democratic process in Georgia. As William Lahew, a Head of the NATO Alliance Office in Georgia underlines, he will observe the proceedings in regard to Rustavi2.

"Democracy is the number one issue. Georgia wants NATO membership, so the members of the alliance have to observe ongoing processes in Georgia. We have representatives who monitor political situation and democracy, as well as the situation of human rights in the media. So, of course, we are closely following the situation in regard to Rustavi 2. Of course, this is a legal issue, and Georgia is an independent country and NATO does not interfere with the legal issues. Nevertheless, it is important to remember the crucial role of the media in a democratic country. You can not have a vibrant democracy without freedom of media,"- states William Lahew.
